Born March 14, 1977 in Anaheim, California Gatrell went on to graduated from Liberty Union (Brentwood, California) High.  His senior year he caught 18 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns to get first-team honors in the All-Bay Valley Athletic League.  He also lettered in basketball, and majored in art at Fresno State.  While at Fresno State (1996-1999) Gatrell was a four year letterman, earning second-team All-WAC his senior season.  Starting all 11 games in the 1998 season (positions varying from tight end, to left tackle, to left guard) he helped lead the Bulldogs offense, which finished third in the WAC in total offense (391.8) and rushing offense (172.5).  He then went on to play for various teams in the NFL including the San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots, and then had a career in arena football playing for the Utah Blaze.  After he coached a very successful Windsor High School Team.  He now coaches Varsity football at Moreau Catholic High School, as well as teaching P.E. for Moreau.
