John romero is a former offensive linemen for UC Berkeley in the late 1990’s. He was born on October 3rd, 1976 in San Leandro, California, and was heavily recruited out of highschool. Romero ended up choosing Cal over Washington State, San Diego State and Fresno State. In the Alameda-Contra Costa league (ACCAL) he was honored the first time East Bay Area selection Lineman of the year. John Romero earned the Blue Chip illustrated All-American honors as the No. 10-ranked offensive lineman in the West, as well as being a member of the Superprep All-star West team and No. 67 prospect in the region. Romero was also a member of the Tacoma News-Tribune Western top 100 list, and in 1998 he was the only returning lineman to start all eleven games of the season. His senior year in St. Marys, the team earned a 9-2 record  and the ACCAL title. In 1999 he would be drafted as a center to the Philadelphia Eagles. On the baseball team for Saint Mary’s High School in Berkeley, John earned league and county honors as a pitcher/third baseman, producing a 6-1 record with a 2.77 ERA and a .360 batting average.
