Al woods was born on August 8, 1953 in Oakland, CA. He went to St. Elizabeth HS in Oakland, CA and played baseball. After high school he went to  Laney College to pursue his dream of making it to the MLB. After Laney he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 2nd round of the 1972 Amateur Draft. He played seven seasons with the Blue Jays and Twins from 1977-1986, plating Left Field primarily. In 1982 Woods was traded to the Oakland A’s and during spring training re-signed to the minor league to the Blue jays. He spent 2 years with them and in 1985 went back to the Twins and finish his career there.
