Al Attles, a basketball player from New Jersey, attended North Carolina A&T. He was a point guard for Philadelphia and San Francisco Warriors from 1960 to 1971. As a player he averaged 8.9 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game. After his career as a player he went on to coach for The Golden State Warriors from 1970 to 1983. During his coaching period his team won the 1975 NBA Championship. His number 16 jersey was retired by the Warriors. He attends every home game for the warriors and was one of the first African American coaches.
